FJ Next Holdings unveiled its latest survey results on November 27, revealing the most desirable stations and commuter-friendly train lines for single residents in the Greater Tokyo Area (GTA).
The study, conducted from October 18 to 23, surveyed 1,600 unmarried individuals in their 20s and 30s living alone.
2024 Greater Tokyo Most Desirable Stations: Kichijoji Leads for Seven Straight Years

For the seventh straight year, Kichijoji claimed the top spot in this survey as the nearest station respondents most want to live by.
The ranking of other popular stations remained steady, with Yokohama in second place and Shinjuku in third.

Notable changes include significant climbs by:
Musashi Kosugi: Entered the top 10 for the first time, rising from 11th to 6th place.
Omiya: Moved from 16th to 10th.
Futago Tamagawa: Jumped from 28th to 17th.
Kawasaki: Rose dramatically from 33rd to 17th.
In contrast, Nakano station saw a sharp decline, dropping from 9th to 15th.
2024 Best Train Lines for Greater Tokyo Single Residents
JR lines dominated the rankings for commuter-friendly train routes, reflecting their popularity among young urban professionals:

With four JR lines in the top five, the results underscore their demand dominance in Tokyo’s transit network, helping to ensure sustained property prices and rents.
